Small Business Website Design

Many small businesses still do not have a presence on the internet. The Stumbling block is usually the cost or should I say the perceived cost of a small business website design. In just a few short years a lot has changed in the online world.

In the late 1990s the internet became, for the public at large, a development to be reckoned with, one that offered great potential for small business. As with most things it was touted as the solution to may problems small business might have.Affordable advertising   being one of them. This was true but a good deal of development would need to happen before the masses would search for products and services as they do today.

I can speak authoritatively about  small business website design because I was working at a small family company at the time and we explored all of the options available to us. Th barriers then were website design, management and search. The reason I say search is because Google had not yet come along and Yahoo and a number of other Search engines were struggling for power and usage. Google would make search easy for the average Joe and Jane and that would in turn make the internet the place to go to find what you wanted.

Some other developments like online advisory and review sites, would drive more usage of the internet and finally the biggest boost of all the cell phone’s evolution into a smart phone.

Now days the complex code and design of a website has been replaced by a blog platform called Word Press which is easy for the average person to use. There are other similar blogging platforms available as well. This is a very big deal because it takes the cost from thousands of dollars for a web presence to just about $100.00 per year.

The cell phone has made on the go search a daily activity and now businesses from tire companies to beauty salons  can benefit from having an online presence. Small business website design today is affordable for every business and is necessary. Why? because it offers the chance to build your reputation in your area of service or product offering. This may seem minor but it is becoming what potential buyers use to make decisions.
